Biography

Bruno Pimenta is an artist from Minas Gerais who acts as a flutist, a composer, an arranger and a phonographic producer. He has been a part of the professional independent music scene since 1982. With a very versatile style, Bruno does not dedicate himself to a single musical segment. He seamlessly moves between the erudite and the popular, combining technical expediency, musical awareness and fluidity. He collects experiences in chamber music, jazz, samba, choro, bossa and in the most diverse expressions of improvised contemporary music.

His history with music begins as a teenager, when at age 15 he joined the Artistic Education Foundation (Fundação de Educação Artística) and had his first flute and music lessons. Over time, he deepened his training and began to study harmony, counterpoint, analysis, composition, arrangement and orchestration. With great interest also in the technical aspects of sound production and audio engineering, he graduated as a Phonographic Producer by the DGC Audio Professional Training Center (Núcleo de Formação Profissional DGC Áudio). To complement his training, he studied Composition at the UFMG School of Music, graduating in 2010. During his career, he studied with great masters, including HJ Koellreutter, Marco Antônio Guimarães, Berenice Menegale, Marisa Gandelman, Sérgio Freire and Oiliam Lana.

Throughout his professional career, there were many important works and experiences, as a player, arranger, composer, director or music producer. A landmark of his career was the release of the album "Suíte Brasil", a duo in partnership with the guitarist Tabajara Belo. In addition, he was a part of various musical groups, among them Angu Stereo Club, Juarez Maciel e Grupo Muda, Jacaré Amorim and Curupaco. He has also participated in performances and recordings alongside the big names in Brazilian music, among them Elza Soares, Juca Chaves, Uakti, Kristoff Silva, Alieksey Vianna, André Siqueira, Marcio Bahia, Manassés, Paulinho Pedrazul and Déa Trancoso. As an orchestrator, the works for the concerts "Uakti e Orquestra Sesi Minas" and "Concerto para Curvas, Sinos e Anjos", by Éder Santos and Paulos Santos, stand out.
